While digging through the archives of my past work, I found inspiration for this week's collage piece. In 2003, I created "Daydreaming", a whimsical painting with a lush jungle-like background. The simplified shapes and vivid colors seemed ideal to transform into a collage work.
The piece from the past sparked my imagination... I knew the painting could translate into a collage piece, and focused on a corner of the background foliage. The "Sexy Pinks" depicted in the piece are a common sight around the islands, especially on the road to Hana. I exaggerated a bold black outline around the plants and flowers, giving "Pink Jungle" a fun playful feeling.
